November 2008

whyyyyyyyyyy

this is quite possibly the WORST news ever...especially for me. :(

as i'm sure everyone knows, chase utley has been plagued with hip problems, esp. towards the end of the season....
well, espn has just announced that he will have surgery on his hip, and will be out 4-6 months.
he will get the surgery next week.
best case senario, he will return early april. or, he is expected to return late may-early june.

:( nooo chase utley :(

please, please, pleaseeeee have a speedy recovery!!!!!!!!

in other news, congrats to dustin pedroia and albert pujols for winning mvp.
and congrats to ryan howard for placing second in mvp voting!!

extremely late...

Yeah I know, I dropped the ball a bit haha...
I haven't written in a week, but school's been kicking the life out of me...so this is the only time I can get to write about the million things that have happened in the past week.

First things first: Matt Holliday has been traded to the Oakland A's. Interesting...I didn't think they were in that whole fiasco...oh well, he was asking for too much anyway...

Next, to the various awards that have been handed out...
Manager of the Year: not Charlie Manuel, but Lou Pinella. They had based it on the regular season, when the Cubs did have the best record in the NL, so it's understandable...Mr. Manuel did come in second though, so it's not a total loss.
AL Manager of the Year was Joe Maddon, and respectably so.
Cy Young Award: AL, Cliff Lee; NL, Tim Lincecum.
Brad Lidge placed 4th in voting.
Silver Slugger: Yay for Chase Utley for winning this award the third year in a row!!!! He is the best second baseman, let's be serious.
The other winners were, by position~
1B-AL, Justin Morneau..NL, Albert Pujols
2B-AL, Dustin Pedroia..NL, Chase Utley :D
3B-AL, Alex Rodriguez..NL, David Wright
SS-AL, Derek Jeter..NL, Hanley Ramirez
C-AL, Joe Mauer..NL, Brian McCann
OF-AL, Josh Hamilton; Carlos Quentin; Grady Sizemore..NL, Ryan Braun; Matt Holliday; Ryan Ludwick
P-NL, Carlos Zambrano
DH-AL, Aubrey Huff
~~The League MVP's will be handed out on Tuesday.

Now going onto the latest offseason activity...
Jamie Moyer is definitely planning to stay with the Phillies. Whooooo :)
CC Sabathia has gotten a hefty offer from the Yankees.
Pat Burrell's future is still unknown, as of right now. :(
Kerry Wood has not resigned with the Cubs.
The biggest question right now: Who wants Manny?
And that seems to be it, aside from the many others who have filed for free agency

If I can get a chance, and something huge comes up, you will see it here :)

Little late...Phils news 11/7.

Breaking news!!! (Ok, maybe not since it's 12:30 on Saturday morning haha...)

But anyway, it has been known that both Jamie Moyer and Pat Burrell are filing for free agency...
I reallllly wish Philly had enough money to keep the '08 championship team together...but as the days go on, it's not looking good.

And, Matt Holliday? To the Phillies?? Hey, it's possible...
According to the Hot Stove Blog, the Phils are keeping an eye on him. Seems good, right? Not so fast!!!! This potential trade, if it even happens, may also require Shane Victorino or Jayson Werth. To me, it's not worth it. Seriously, it's too much to lose over a guy who was in a slump....

There are others on the Phillies list, including Rocko Baldelli (Rays), Kevin Mench (Blue Jays), and Jerry Hairston, Jr. (Reds).

There's still a lotta postseason left.......

Phils news...11/6

Heyyy everyone!!!  Here's your daily fill of Phillies news...

Jimmy Rollins has been entered in the AFL (Arizona Fall League) Hall of Fame!!!
here's the article for those who want more info:

And this article, I've found, has got all the up-to-date stuff for the offseason, salary-wise.
Phillies.com has become my Godsend lol...

I'm sure with more of the offseason to come, there will be plenty more news to come...but that's all I've seen for right now...
Let's hope Pat stays...BRING BACK PAT!!!
(haha yes, I am a big Burrell fan...but none bigger than Chase Utley, of course haha.)

Hail to the Chief....aaand Phils news for the day.

Congrats to Obama for getting over 300 electoral votes and winning the Presidency...it's time for change!!!

Now that I've said that, let's get away from politics...
and I've decided to make this blog as a catch-up for all Philly sports, but it'll of course mainly be Phillies.

Congratulations J-Roll and Shane Victorino for winning Gold Gloves!!! Yay!!!

So Taguchi has been let go...he really didn't play much anyway.

Third base coach Steve Smith has also been let go after two seasons with the Phils.

Pat Burrell has become a restriced free agent when his contract was not resigned within the past 24 hours.... :(
But, the Phillies have negotiating rights with him until Friday..BRING BACK PAT!!!!!!

The Sixers are now 3rd in the Atlantic Conference after beating Sacramento, 125-91.
The Flyers are 4th in the Atlantic Division after their loss to Edmonton on Sunday.
The Eagles are 3rd in the NFC East and play the Giants on Sunday.

That's all for now kids!!! Until tomorrow....

hey everyone...

Just reminding everyone to go out and vote!!!!

Doesn't matter who you're voting for, just go out and do it!!!!!

The new GM is...

...Ruben Amaro, Jr.!!

Good choice, front office...good choice.

He's been up there with the best of them for a while now, and definitely deserves it.

Cannot wait until 2009!!!!

after baseball...thanks for making me featured blog!!!

I am still taking it all in...

I want every single piece of memorabilia available, but unfortunately my income won't allow it...haha.

And, after all is said and done, I don't think it's fully hit me just yet.

I cannot get enough of the final out, and I'll remember till the day I die where I was and what my reaction was when I witnessed my first world championship in my lifetime.

The parade in itself made my lifetime. I may have been there since 6 am, stood for 6 straight hours (which, trust me, I am completely paying for now..lol), and got caught up in the mayhem known as Philadelphia public transportation...but it was all worth it, just to see all the Phils up on their floats, taking pictures and videos, and just basking in their moment. J-Roll waved to me :D, because I was screaming my lungs out, and I spotted him and yelled J-ROLL!!!!! He pointed, laughed, and waved. Best moment ever, right there.  Unfortunately, Chase Utley was on the opposite side of me :(, but it's ok, cause I still got home in time to see the rally at Citizen's Bank Park on TV!!!!!!!    Ohhhh man, best day of my life, easily. Well, besides the win Wednesday night.

It's amazing, but now all I can root for is for February and March to get their butts here!!! haha.

But, until Spring Training comes, I still have the other three major sports, the Eagles, the Flyers, and the Sixers...luckily, all show some type of promise this season.

The Eagles beat down on the Seahawks, 26-7.
The Flyers, unfortunately, lost a tough one to the Oilers, 5-4.
The Sixers don't play until tomorrow.

Ok, ok...none are as awesome as the Phillies are, but of course a world championship will do that to ya :)

Now, I'm just hoping for a complete takeover in Philly by the other major sports teams...that, my friends, would be AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!

PS-Thanks so much for making me the featured blog!!!  I gotta say, it was awesome to see my face on the home page of the MLB blogs site!!!!!!!! :D
